Cutting the Unveiling Cake

Thanks to my Mom, Diane, we just got footage back of cutting open the cake. You can hear at the start that everyone thought they saw blue but that it actually ended up being a bright pink center. We can't wait to share this video with our daughter when she is old enough to appreciate what a surprise she brought us.

A few of our first baby purchases!

We couldn't resist doing a little bit of shopping for Baby Girl on Sunday! Everything is so cute and teeny tiny:)
It says 'Daddy's Purr-fect Little Girl'...the kitty reminds us of Roary:)

It says 'Mommy's Little Sweetie'...

Little Mona

Isn't she soooo cute?! She loves to hang out here even if it freaks out her mom and dad. She is in the banister upstairs and below her is a long drop to the downstairs. Some of you may remember that this is the same place that Roary (several Christmas Eves ago) jumped on the banister and fell to the bottom floor:( Silly girl has never tried to actually jump on the banister though - I think she is smart enough to realize that it wouldn't be a very good choice.

20 Week Ultrasound

Introducing Baby Girl!

Sorry the picture is a little blurry - our scanner is broken at home so it is a picture of the ultrasound picture:)

At our appointment we got to see both of her arms and legs as well as the femur bone (in her leg) and the humerus bone (from the shoulder to the elbow). We saw her skull, her spine, and the chambers in her heart. At one point she had her mouth open and we watched her close her mouth - it was cute. She was turning around quite a bit in there! I learned that I have a anterior placenta, which basically means that the placenta is growing in front of my uterus. It poses no risk to my healthy or delivery, but it might be harder for me to feel her kicking/punching because she is using the placenta as her punching bag:)

Other than that, we had the ultrasound tech write whether it was a boy or a girl on a piece of paper and we sealed the envelope for later delivery to the bakery:)

Boy or girl party coming up next!

The frosting was PINK!!!!

Baby Lynch is a...GIRL!!! We are soooo excited! I will be back later with party details and pictures from the party and ultrasound:)

It's finally here!!!

February 20th! The day we find out if we are having a boy or a girl. February seemed sooooo far away when we found out we were pregnant. It is hard to believe that it is finally here. We are beyond excited!!!! Of course we are also excited to see our little Jellybean - I bet he/she has grown so much since we had our last ultrasound at 12 weeks.

Today (well, officially Monday) marks the 20th week of my pregnancy, meaning we are half-way through! Time is just flying by, although at times it seems like July is just forever away:)

Our plan today is to have the ultrasound tech put whether it is a boy or a girl in a sealed envelope. Then we are taking the envelope to a bakery and having them bake a cake for us. They are going to make a 2-layer cake and between the two layers they will put either blue or pink frosting, depending on whether it is a boy or a girl (at this point we will still no have idea). Then they will cover the entire cake with white frosting. We are inviting our family over for lunch and cake tomorrow afternoon and we will cut the cake and then we will all know if it is a boy or a girl!!!! I think the surprise will be priceless and the reactions will be priceless, but it will be soooo hard waiting until Saturday afternoon to know what we are having.

I will be sure to update tomorrow with a big slice of cake and hopefully a few ultrasound pictures:)

Happy Love Day!

Valentines Day was pretty simple this year, which was perfect. Patrick surprised me with a super yummy dinner on Saturday night. He made chicken, mozzarella, caramelized onion panini sandwiches with an herbed mayonnaise. They were so delicious! For dessert he made a toffee bread pudding, which was sooooo good! He even forgot the stick of butter in the bread pudding and it was still perfect:)

On Sunday night I surprised Patrick with dinner. I made seared ahi tuna with a wasabi-green onion sour cream mayonnaise, orzo salad, and asparagus. For dessert I made a chocolate trifle, which was a hit!

We hope all our friends and family had a happy Valentines Day!

Roary and the Snoogle

I have caught Roary on numerous occasions snuggled up in my Snoogle (pregnancy pillow). I love how he knows exactly where to put his little head:) Doesn't he look comfy?!

I felt the baby!!!

February 12, 2009

I woke up at 4am and didn't have to go to the bathroom. I normally only ever wake up when I have to use the bathroom. And then I realized that I had a sharp pain in my lower left abdomen. It wasn't terribly painful, but definitely different and noticeable. I fell back asleep and woke up with the alarm at 5:30. I could still feel the pain. It would come and go, but it was definitely still there. I went to school and decided to call the doctor's office and leave a message for the nurse. Long story short, the doctor "diagnosed" it as round ligament pain and told me to stay off my feet (which is impossible as a first grade teacher) and drink lots of water.

After school I headed up to Seattle to meet Patrick for dinner at Palisade and the broadway musical, The Lion King (which may I quickly add were both WONDERFUL!). Anyways on my way up there I had the music blasting and I was kinda pushing around on my abdomen. And then I felt the flutter, like having butterflies. And I kept pushing and I felt it again!!! It was so amazing! It was almost as if Baby L knew that I had been stressing and worrying all day long and he/she wanted to give me some peace of mind. Of course I haven't felt anything since, but I am okay with that:)

Baby belly at 18 weeks

February 9th, 2009
Here is the most recent picture of my belly! It is definitely resembling a pregnant belly. It is even more noticable with my shirt off, but I am still a bit too modest to bare it on the blog. Maybe in another few weeks:)

Overall, I am feeling pretty good. My back hurts quite a bit and I had a pretty rough day a few days ago (which ended up being round ligament pain), but I can't complain too much since I spent the first 13 weeks of pregnancy near the toilet:) Sleep is going pretty well with the help of my Snoogle, which is a big, oddly-shaped pregnancy body pillow that has worked wonders.

Our fur-babies!

I don't necessarily worry about labor and delivery (or at least not yet) and I don't really worry too much about caring for a newborn, but I do worry about how the kitties will react to Baby Lynch. More than anything I hope the 3 of them LOVE eachother! I imagine that the kitties will be scared for awhile since they are pretty used to a quiet, chill life at our house:) But then I worry that they will start to get annoyed or a bit too curious and will get a bit too close to Baby Lynch. I am going to hope for the best though!
Most of you already know (and hopefully love) our fur-babies, Roary and Ramona. Roary is the big orange guy. He is 3 years old and is such a sweet boy. He loves to be around us, but from a distance. Ramona is our little girl who is 1 years old. She is a crazy, hyper little thing, but we love her. It took them a few months, but they eventually became best friends. They love to play together, haul around the house together, clean eachother, and even sleep together!

Will it be a boy or a girl?

I had my students vote on whether or not they thought Baby Lynch was going to be a boy or a girl (since I find out on the 20th!). I told them to vote for themselves and to not copy their best friend. I also told them that just because they are a boy they don't have to vote for a boy and vice versa for the girls. With that said, 9 of them think it is going to be a boy and 11 of them think it is going to be a girl. I go back and forth, but I feel like Baby Lynch is a girl. I guess we shall see:)

I also gave them the chance to brainstorm some more baby names. I have the complete list at school, but here are a few that I can remember:

Curious
Rex
Lexi
Espinoza
Drake
Lily
Mattie

A little baby belly!

February 2, 2009 - 17 weeks pregnant!

Sharing the news with my students!

This morning at our staff meeting I told everyone that I am pregnant. Of course they were all excited, although I am sure many of them suspected it. It was fun having people come up to me and congratulate me all day. And it is nice to finally not have to cover it up!

The best part was when I told my students (first graders). I showed them the book 'My Teachers Having a Baby' and asked them why I would read this book to them. Their answers were hilarious. They had no idea! I finally told them that I was reading the book to them because THEIR teacher is pregnant. They still kinda just stared at me. Then I said "I am pregnant" and then they got so excited!!! At that point they realized what was going on and they just started blurting out and asking questions. It was really cute. They were worried that I was leaving and were very happy to hear that I would finish the school year with them with a big belly!

They had so many cute questions and said so many cute things that I don't want to ever forget...

They started brainstorming baby names such as Sparkles, Shiny, Princess, and Salsa just to name a few:) I told them once I knew if it was a boy or a girl then they could brainstorm more baby names. Should be interesting. Who knows though? Maybe there will be a few good ones!

They thought it was absolutely hilarious when I told them the baby was the size of an apple.

They wanted to know if the baby could hear them - during Word Wall they chanted their words especially loud "for the baby"

In the book the kids put stickers on their teacher's belly and they wanted to do the same - and so I let them:) All day they would say hello or goodbye to me AND the baby:) All day a few of them would randomly say "I am just so excited for the baby"

They want to start a countdown until the baby is born. Of course many of my kiddos from last year heard I was pregnant and were even more excited. I had so many kids come up to me today and touch my belly and give me hugs. It was such a fun experience and something I will never forget.

Spreading the news some more!

We shared our news with Patrick's parents and his grandparents a few weeks after Thanksgiving. We were celebrating his grandparent's wedding anniversary at Mitzels. Towards the end of the meal we had everyone close their eyes because we had a special surprise. We put an ultrasound picture in a glass coaster for everyone (thanks Sarah for finding those!). Then we replaced the restaurant's coasters with our coasters and told everyone to open their eyes. It look them all a few seconds to realize what we were hiding since the coasters were beneath the glasses. Eventually someone saw the coasters and then it took another few seconds before everyone started to realize what it was a picture of:) And then the celebrating began! It was again another moment I will never forget. Baby Lynch will be Bob and Lois's first great-grandbaby, isn't that neat?!

Over the course of the the previous weeks and the weeks to come we would share the news with the rest of our extended family as well as with friends and co-workers.

There are a few that I want to document:
- One of my best friends, Martha, is also pregnant! She is due May 30th. I called her on the phone one day and asked her if our babies could be best friends. She said 'of course!' and I said 'great, because I am pregnant.' It has been so fun going through this adventure together and I look forward to many more adventures together in the months and years to come!

- On Halloween I got together with one of my other best friends Sarah for coffee after school. I told her that I wanted to share some of my students' writing with her. They were to write about what they dressed up as for Halloween. In the stack I hid my own paper. I wrote something like "For Halloween I am a mom. For real because I'M PREGNANT!!!!" It took her a few seconds to truly catch on and then she freaked! She was so excited!!! She definitely had one of the best reactions to the news. Another friend that I look forward to sharing this adventure with!

Our jellybean at 12 weeks

December 29, 2008 - Our little Jellybean is doing great! We had an ultrasound this morning (to test for Downs Syndrome), which gave us another opportunity to see our little one:) And it was a loooooooong ultrasound because Jellybean didn't want to move, lol. The ultrasound tech told me not to worry - Jellybean was just napping:) She had to get a certain picture for the test and she kept having to jiggle my belly around. Eventually Jellybean moved! He/She is either very stubborn or very shy. Anyways, everything looked great. It's heartrate was 145, which is considerably lower than my previous ultrasound (160). We got to see it's little hands and legs. At one point it looked like it was sucking it's thumb:) It has the cutest little button nose:) Oh, and it's legs were crossed - is that weird? It looked pretty cute though!

Spreading the news

December 1, 2008

After much thought and discussion (after having a few ups and downs with the pregnancy) we decided to share our pregnancy news with my family on Thanksgiving. I am sooooo happy that we shared! It was such a special moment that I will remember forever:)

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house and I told everyone that we had a special Thanksgiving treat, but that we wanted it to be a surprise. So we had everyone fill their plates with food and drop their plates off at the table before heading back into the kitchen. As they waited in the kitchen Patrick and I put out place cards, which we made that morning. Instead of using their names we wrote 'grandpa', 'grandma', 'uncle', 'mommy', and 'daddy.' We had everyone come back out to the table at the same time. Patrick had the camera in hand. I think my brother caught on right away. We couldn't tell if my dad caught on, but it took my mom a few seconds and then she FREAKED! And then everyone FREAKED! It was so awesome! Everyone was crying and laughing. It was so awesome! Then we shared our pictures from our ultrasound, which was so cool!

Welcome to our blog!

October 2008 - We're having a baby! This was by far one of the most exciting moments of my life. I will never forget seeing the word 'pregnant' and screaming, shrieking, and crying tears of happiness all the way to the bathroom to share the news with Patrick (who was in the shower).

Welcome to our blog! This blog will follow the lives of the Lynch family:) It will mostly document Baby Lynch, but will also include some of our adventures as well as pictures of our fur-babies, Roary and Ramona. We hope you enjoy and check back often for updates and pictures!
