6 months and a few days...

I am losing track of how many weeks Nelia is and I keep having to run downstairs to look at the calendar. So, I am going to go by months and weeks now, sound good?:)

Happy 6 months Nelia - December 25, 2009

Dear sweet baby girl,

Your 6 month birthday was an exciting day!  Not only are you 1/2 a year old (where in the world did the time go?), but your birthday was on Christmas.  It was so special being able to share this day with all of your family who love you so much!

Lets see, you are still growing a ton!  Your 6 month visit to the pediatrician isn't until January 11th (and you are going to a new pediatrician - more about that later!), but we are guessing that you are about 17lbs and 27 inches.  You are now wearing a size 2-3 diaper, but are definitely on your way to a size 3.  Most of your clothing is 6-12 months, but there are a few 3-6 month onesies that still fit.  You are just so tall!  This month you started rice cereal (12/4), which you didn't seem to mind.  You still exclusively nurse anywhere from 5-7 times a day and bottles are usually anywhere from 4-7oz. Nursing is becoming quite the challenge though - you get so distracted! Your favorite thing to do is arch your back and look upside down at everything instead of eating, lol:) On 12/26 we gave you bananas for the first time! You seem to like them, but not really love them.  Next up we will try avocados. If you are anything like your mama, you will love them!:)  What else? You are losing your hair, which is quite sad but it will grow back eventually.  Your eyes are still very blue and so beautiful!

You are still sleeping through the night for the most part. Over the last few weeks there have been more nighttime wake-ups, but they are usually remedied by giving you the pacifier.  I have a feeling that they are teething-related.  December 21st was a big day around here!  We moved you to your crib. I realize that we should have done that a long time ago, but I just loved having you close by:)  So far you seem to really like your crib and you have so much room now!  We tried putting you to bed without the swaddle, but you just love being all bundled up.  So we will just follow your cues for now.  We still have to bounce you to sleep, but it seems to be taking less and less time now, which is nice.  Your daddy and I attempted CIO (cry it out) for a day, but I don't think any of us were quite ready for that.  So, we will just keep doing what we are doing because we are all happy and rested:)  Oh, and speaking of teething, no teeth yet, although I can see one just below the surface. It sure is stubborn and doesn't want to come out!

The biggest difference I have seen from last month to now is that you are becoming much more social. You love watching everything. You are smiling a ton and laughing a lot more. Your most favorite thing to watch are the kitties and you love hearing us 'meow'.  You also seem way more into your toys and figuring them out.  You are still rolling a ton and we can tell that you really want to crawl.  You can sit by yourself now, although you still occasionally topple over:)  You are discovering your voice and figuring out that your tongue can do things, like blow raspberries. Over the last few weeks you have started to wiggle when you get excited about something. It is the cutest thing ever!  Oh, that reminds me of something else that you have recently started doing - when it is time to change your clothes you stiffen up both of your arms, making it impossible to change you.  It is hard not to laugh!

This month you celebrated your first Thanksgiving - next year I bet you will enjoy it even more once you are able to enjoy some of the yummy food.  We took you to your first Christmas tree farm, which was fun even if it was really cold.  Nana babysat you this month while your daddy and I went to his Christmas party for work. That was the first time that someone else put you to bed and you did a fabulous job!  Uncle Brent babysat you that same week while we went to Nate and Brysann's Tacky Sweater Party and you two had a blast playing together. Uncle Brent is still one of your most favorite people - we always look forward to Wednesdays!  You attended your first Christmas Eve party and got to meet lots of the Lynch family.  Uncle Brandon and Aunt Deanna came to visit and you had such a great time with them! We already miss them:) We celebrated your first Christmas and although you probably didn't really know what was going on, it was still fun to watch you take it all in.  You loved the wrapping paper and bows and all of your new toys and clothes.

Favorites: singing 1, 2 Buckle My Shoe, your glowworm, Peek-a-Boo, the blanket game, bathtime, reading books, rolling all over the place, sunshine rattle, your new piggy toy from Uncle Brent, your dog from Uncle Brandon and Aunt Deanna, Leapfrog alphabet toy, sitting in the baby bjorn facing outwards, shopping (sounds funny, but you are always so happy when I take you to the mall - like mother, like daughter, haha), the Peacock, measuring cups, sitting in your Bumbo, sucking on your feet and hands

Dislikes: having your clothes changed, riding in the car (although it has been much easier over the last few weeks), getting your nails clipped

Well, sweet girl, there is a part of me that wants to freeze time and keep you this way forever, but again, it is so much fun watching you change and grow. You make daddy and I so proud and we love you more than anything in this world!

xoxo,
your mama

You weren't in the mood for your 6-month photoshoot so we will try again in a few days and hopefully get a few more pictures...

Christmas Day 2009

Patrick's family left around 11 and we had a few hours to spare before my family came over for our celebration.  Long story short, there were a few delays so we didn't actually start our Christmas with my family until almost 5pm!  We ended up eating Christmas dinner first and then opening presents.  My family loves doing presents and it usually takes close to 2 hours!  It is so much fun!  Nelia had a great time, although she was exhausted!

The tree before my parents arrived

Some of our Christmas cards - thank you so much to those of you who sent cards. It made checking the mail so much fun!

Stockings are my favorite and I insist on doing a stocking for everyone - here each person is holding up their favorite thing from their stocking.  My favorite thing from my stocking was the baby and mommy fitness DVD:)  Nelia's favorite were probably her new spoons

Nelia magnets!!!

Brent is an amazing wrapper! Look at this present - isn't it so pretty?!

I think Nelia was a little bit jealous of Grandma's Snuggie:)

Nelia's turn - she was sure spoiled with lots of great gifts!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Christmas Eve/Christmas morning 2009

We had a wonderful holiday celebration!  It all began on Thursday when Uncle Brandon and Aunt Deanna arrived from Sun Valley, Idaho.  We spent the afternoon hanging out around the house, which was lots of fun and then headed to Dan and Cheryl's for the Lynch's Annual Christmas Eve party. It was great seeing everyone and for most people, it was their first time meeting Nelia.  Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures, but the food was great and the company was even better!

This picture cracks me up because Patrick was trying to take a picture, but Deanna was talking to someone in the kitchen and Nelia was goofing off (can you see her sticking out her tongue?).

Christmas morning we woke up early and had Patrick's family over for breakfast and presents.  The food was delicious - sausage casserole, baked french toast, and fruit.  Nelia was spoiled with new clothes and toys.  I think she definitely enjoyed the wrapping paper the most:) However, now that the wrapping paper is gone, she is loving all her presents!

Up next, Christmas day with my family...

Nelia - week 27

First time in the swing:) She seemed to enjoy it, even if it was freezing cold outside.

A few more cute pictures:

Eating her feet:)

First time eating bananas on December 26, 2009 - she seemed to like them, although I can't say that she necessarily loved them.  She ate them, but didn't seem too excited about it.  We will do bananas until Tuesday and then I think we will try avocado, one of my favorite foods:)  It was fun because Grandma was here and got to feed her too.
